Die Quinta do Ameal liegt direkt am Ufer des Rio Lima in der gleichnamigen Unterregion des Minho. Die Gemeinde Refoios do Lima ist eine der ältesten Portugals und datiert vor der Gründung der Nation (1143). In den Aufzeichnungen des Refoios do Lima Klosters werden die Weinberge von Ameal erwähnt; wann sie genau angelegt wurden, ist jedoch nicht bekannt. Sicher ist, dass es bereits vor 1710 war.
Die Rebflächen der Quinta do Ameal sind leicht abfallend gen Süden gerichtet und umfassen heute 12 Hektar, die zu 100% mit der Loureiro Traube bestockt sind. Gerade in Lima erreicht diese Sorte eine besondere Duftig- und Blumigkeit.

Quinta do Ameal Loureiro
This little organic gem is refreshing with a surprising level of minerality, fresh citrus notes, and salt. Very charming with a very low alcohol content (11%)!
Ideal for a summer day with or without food, but with seafood it is just perfect. If you ask restaurants between Lisbon and Porto, they will all say without hesitation that it is one of the best producers in Vinho Verde.
