Adega Belém Urban Winery Lisbon Unicórnio Graúdo Curtimenta Ânfora 2024
Made from the highly aromatic Moscatel Graúdo grape. Late hand-picked on 17 September 2024 in Palmela on the Setúbal Peninsula. Spontaneously fermented on the skins in clay amphorae (Curtimenta); then aged in clay amphorae without the skins. Dense and intense, with just 11% alcohol. Goes well with well-spiced dishes from India or Southeast Asia. Only 580 bottles were produced.

In Lisbon's Belém district – home of the sweet pasteis de nata – David and Catarina purchased an old car repair shop after completing their joint oenology studies, which they spent years restoring into their wine cellar and meeting place. In 2020, the entire harvest was pressed there for the first time. The white grapes come mainly from small plots in Monsanto City Park (but also from the courtyard garden of the nearby university); the reds come from the Alenquer sub-region, north of the capital. They are all hand-picked when the time is right. All wines are fermented spontaneously, at carefully controlled temperatures and with minimal intervention. The cool labels were designed by their daughters Ana Lula and Sofia. Adega Belém is open to interested visitors for tours, tastings or simply a light snack.
