In mittlerweile fünfter Generation steht die britisch-portugiesische Dynastie der Symingtons wie wenige andere Namen am Douro für höchste Portwein-Qualität. Aber auch neue Wege werden eingeschlagen, etwa im Joint Venture mit der französischen Bordeaux-Legende Bruno Prats, der auf der Quinta da Roriz mit seinem Chryseia einen Spitzenwein von internationaler Klasse keltert.

2024 is too late
Tasted date; 18 Feb 2024 Overall score; 85 The cork was soft, the bottom broke and it was showing signs of starting to leak by. There was heavy sediment and filtering was required. The aroma was strong with blackberry, citrus and spice. The taste on the hard palate is mild with blackberry and vanilla. The flavor on the soft palate falls apart and all you get is a bit of a weak grape flavor. There is a vanilla and tobacco flavor on the tip of the tongue and it transitions into a light burn on the middle. The finish is woefully lacking any refinement. I am very disappointed in this bottle, the best time to drink this wine has passed. If you have a bottle drink it now. It reminds me of a €10 bottle of Royal Porto at this point. It is still drinkable and enjoyable as long as you are not paying for the bottle. I recommend trying the Warre's vintage 1980. Ask Weingalerie for other recommendations in this vintage because there are several great bottles in 1977.

Jetzt optimal zu trinken
Als einer der wenigen großen 1977-er ist der Warre für mich jetzt optimal zu trinken. Aus diesem wichtigen Jahrgang ist er für mich aber nicht ganz oben mit dabei, da er nicht ganz die Komplexität besitzt, die ich sonst in so vielen 1977-ern gefunden habe. Hält sich sicher noch viele Jahre!
