Wine from Beira Interior Portugal
In the barren hinterland of Portugal, between the Serra da Estrela plateau and the border with Spain, lies the DOC Beiras Interior, which was demarcated in 2005. Its climate is characterised by short, hot and extremely dry summers, followed by long, frosty winters. Between 350 and 800 metres above sea level, robust Brancos and fresh Tintos with a moderate alcohol content thrive on granite soils with occasional slate deposits. The traditional co-operative character has recently been followed by innovative new start-ups that leave no doubt: The region is on the rise!
