Ethos Identidade da Serra Beira Interior Vinhos da Montanha Tinto 2021
Identidade Tinto is a single parcel red from Ethos, made in their 12 hectares of vineyards in the natural park of Serra da Estrela. The vineyard selected for the Identidade Tinto is an older granite parcel in around 520 meters altitude, with vines that was planted between 1966 and 1975.
The wine consists of a fieldblend of the different varities growing on this parcel, which are Rufete, Baga, Jaen, Trincadeira with more. 10% of the grapes are selected to ferment in whole bunches, while the rest is destemmed. The most ferments for 11 months in cement vats. After fermentation the wine ages on the bottle for a year, before its released.
A very full and complex red, with a deep color and a medium body. Good balance between the acidity and the fine tannins, with notes of wild strawberries, cherries and forrest bottom, with a hint of spices, rosmary and thyme in the end. A good partner for lamb based dishes.

Am Rande des Nationalparks der Serra da Estrela liegt die Quinta de São Lourenço im von karger Schönheit gezeichneten Mondego-Flusstal. Auf 12 Hektar werden aus über 60 Jahre alten Reben die Ethos Vinhos gekeltert. Und der Name ist bei diesem Projekt Programm: Mit minimaler Intervention im Weinberg und -keller, dazu sehr gering geschwefelt; 2025 ist dann auch die Umstellung auf Organischen Anbau offiziell. Es sind kühl gehaltene Tintos und kernige Weißweine, die uns unmittelbar überzeugt haben und auch im Heimatland schon einige Auszeichnungen abräumten - (noch) ein Geheimtipp!
