The Azores can look back on a centuries-enduring history of wine cultivation. Three of the nine Atlantic islands are still cultivating grapes today: In mostly small plots and partly framed by old walls of black volcanic rock to protect the vines from the strong sea breezes, fresh, mineral and lively white wines are produced.
