Maria Gomes, Vinho Espumante Bruto, Luis Pato, Bairrada

Colour: Bright straw yellow, radiant and clear.

Nose: Luis Pato's Vinho Espumante is joyful and lively on the nose. Fresh fruit and floral notes are in constant interplay: candied lemon peel, orange blossom and a few kumquats are reminiscent of white flowers and a hint of broom. This sparkling wine, made from 95% Maria Gomes and 5% Sercialinho, is youthful and fresh, with an uncomplicated character that makes it a universal refresher.

Palate: On the palate, the delicate fruit is fluffily underpinned by subtle yeast notes that gently envelop its agile, vibrant acidity. With its fine bubbles, it is lively with a creamy melt on the palate, juicy fresh fruit reminiscent of citrus fruits and exotic notes of mango and papaya. A sparkling wine for every occasion, from aperitifs to light starters at the table. Uncomplicated and joyful in the best sense of the word.

The Pato family has been producing wines in Bairrada since the 18th century. Luis Pato pressed his first wine in 1980 and has since become a pioneer in the region and the undisputed master of the Baga grape. Many innovations can be traced back to him: destemming Baga grapes, aging in French oak, planting ungrafted vines, and so on... Today, Luis Pato has 60 hectares of vineyards on sandy and loamy-calcareous soils south and west of Sangalhos. “For us, producing wine is not only a passion, but also a pleasure.”
