At Caves Transmontanas, it’s all about the bubbles: since the 1980s, this winery in Alijó – a small town high up in the Alto Douro – has specialised in producing sparkling wine using the Champagne method (Portuguese: Método Clássico). Made from 100% Gouveio grapes, grown on schist soils at an altitude of 550 metres. Aged on the lees for 66 months, disgorged in January 2026. A very refined perlage, fresh and with lively acidity – a sparkling wine of the very highest quality!
