Barbeito’s Bastardo Madeira from two casks
This medium-dry Madeira from Vinhos Barbeito is made from the rare Bastardo grape variety. It is the second release of this “Duas Pipas” Bastardo.
Ricardo Diogo – co-owner and winemaker at Barbeito – has blended a 2014 Bastardo, which was fermented on the skins and matured in a 550-litre cask, with a 2015 “free-run” Bastardo from a 700-litre cask. In June 2025, 1,320 half-litre bottles and 120 magnums were bottled.
Enjoy this medium-dry Bastardo slightly chilled (16–18 °C) as an aperitif, with creamy starters or with fish soup.
