2021 Baga Red Wine Vinha Pan by Luís Pato
Since 1995, Bairrada legend Luís Pato has been producing a 100% Baga red wine from the Vinha da Panasqueira vineyard. Hand-harvested, fermented in stainless steel tanks, and aged for 22 months in new and used 500-liter oak barrels. Berry, earthy, eucalyptus notes, and firm tannins; ultra elegant. Should be decanted or left in the cellar for a few more years to reach its peak; suitable for aging for at least 20 more years.

Luis Pato pressed his first wine in 1980 and has since become a pioneer in the region and the undisputed master of the Baga grape. Many innovations can be traced back to him: destemming Baga grapes, aging in French oak, planting ungrafted vines, and so on... Today, Luis Pato has 60 hectares of vineyards on sandy and loamy-calcareous soils south and west of Sangalhos. “For us, producing wine is not only a passion, but also a pleasure.”
