Taboadella Touriga Nacional 2021 red wine from Dão
Touriga Nacional is one of Portugals signature grape variaties, often compared with the more fruit dominated Cabernet Sauvignon. The rumor says that the Dão region aparently is the origin of this grape. The vinyard for the Touriga grapes is located 520 meters above sea level, on a plot with granite soil. Harvest is done per hand, and after fermentation the wine ages for 10 months in used oak barrels.
Deep red colour with fresh and elegant aromatic notes of ripe red fruits, violets, black pepper and wet stones. A nice medium body, with a very elegant feel from the high altitude. This wine is a good match for red meat and pairings with light acidic sauces, fatty fish and blue cheese.

Im Herzen des hügeligen Dão, Portugals ältester abgegrenzter DOC, liegen die Weinberge von Taboadella. Wie archäologische Funde belegen, wurden hier bereits in römischer Zeit Weine gekeltert; seit dem Jahr 1255 ist das Gehöft bei Silvã de Cima aktenkundig. Auf 42 Hektar, extrem granithaltigen Böden und teils hundertjährigen Rebstöcken entstehen heute konzentrierte Rot- und Weißweine aus den klassischen Rebsorten der Region.
