A few kilometres north of Lisbon lies the small DOC Alenquer between the Atlantic Ocean and the banks of the Tagus River. In the midst of this hilly landscape, the Tavares da Silva family owns 46 hectares of vineyards on their Quinta de Chocapalha estate. On clay soils and with rarely extreme temperatures, juicy, spicy wines traditionally ripen here. Both the vineyards and the adjacent forests are managed sustainably.
