Bairrada legend Luís Pato is a cool guy who can pull off the bottle cap on a sparkling. Especially with the contents: A crisp rosé made from Baga grapes, half from the 2011 vintage and half from the 2022 vintage. From Vinha Pan, a limestone-rich south-facing slope bordering a pine forest. Fresh raspberry, a hint of blood orange, fine bubbles—and all in highlighter pink!

The Pato family has been producing wines in Bairrada since the 18th century. Luis Pato pressed his first wine in 1980 and has since become a pioneer in the region and the undisputed master of the Baga grape. Many innovations can be traced back to him: destemming Baga grapes, aging in French oak, planting ungrafted vines, and so on... Today, Luis Pato has 60 hectares of vineyards on sandy and loamy-calcareous soils south and west of Sangalhos. “For us, producing wine is not only a passion, but also a pleasure.”
