From Lourinhã, the only designated growing region in the world, alongside Armagnac and Cognac, exclusively for brandy. Mild winters and comparatively cool summers characterise the climate here, resulting in grapes with moderate alcohol content and crisp acidity – perfect for distilling! Here, at Quinta do Rol, the fourth edition of CR&F XO was bottled in 2024, with only 4,650 bottles produced. In the first year, it is matured in toasted 250-litre barrels made from Portuguese chestnut and French Allier and Limousin oak. In the second year, it is matured in barrels that were previously used exclusively for brandy. The final blend is then rested in larger wooden barrels with a capacity of between 2,500 and 8,000 litres. A very fine drop!
