The Serra do Mendro divides the Alentejo into an upper and lower half. The foothills of the Atlantic winds reach as far as this valley corridor and no further. The microclimate is therefore somewhat cooler, with clay and slate characterising the soils. The cuvée for this Branco Reserva is well thought out: The local hero grape Antão Vaz matures in large wooden barrels, Alvarinho and Arinto in cement, Perrum and Roupeiro in used barriques - for 6 months each. The result is an extremely well-balanced Branco, for a white wine from the south with fine acidity and refreshing minerality, which can certainly be stored for several years.
