Luís Pato Bical ZERO 2022 Natural Wine
The name says it all—ZERO. Because a wine couldn’t be more natural, made entirely without the use of any chemicals: no herbicides or fungicides, not even copper is sprayed here in the vineyard. Just a single application of ozone for a few minutes, which quickly dissipates into the air—that’s it. Made from the Bical grape, fermented and aged in a 600-liter chestnut barrel, then bottled unfiltered and without sulphur after nine months. A fresh, juicy, and disarmingly authentic Branco with a character all its own—a masterpiece from the old master Luís Pato.

The Pato family has been producing wines in Bairrada since the 18th century. Luis Pato pressed his first wine in 1980 and has since become a pioneer in the region and the undisputed master of the Baga grape. Many innovations can be traced back to him: destemming Baga grapes, aging in French oak, planting ungrafted vines, and so on... Today, Luis Pato has 60 hectares of vineyards on sandy and loamy-calcareous soils south and west of Sangalhos. “For us, producing wine is not only a passion, but also a pleasure.”
