Now in its fifth generation, the British-Portuguese Symington dynasty is one of the few names in the Douro region synonymous with the highest quality port wine. The family banner unites venerable houses such as Dow's, Graham's and Warre's – a heritage that comes with a responsibility. I enjoyed this vintage, however I enjoyed the 1997 more for a similar price.

Solid cork with medium sediment (needs filtering). The nose is subtitle slightly sweet and acidic with berries and light floral. The hard-palate is awash with a wonderful taste of Bing cherry, plum, dark chocolate and caramel. The soft-palate brings out a slight acidity with black currant, Bing cherries and the slight hint of tobacco. The tip of the tongue
