Smith Woodhouse Late Bottled Vintage Port 2017 – wonderfully matured!
Founded in 1784, Smith Woodhouse is now part of the Symington group. An almost forgotten house, yet one that connoisseurs remember above all for its wonderfully matured Late Bottled Vintage Ports. The secret behind its depth lies in bottle ageing. Bottled after a minimum of four years, the unfiltered wines are left in the cellars for several more years before release. The result is a deep, complex and extremely elegant LBV, which still has good ageing potential and is perfect paired with Stilton cheese.

Now in its fifth generation, the British-Portuguese Symington dynasty is one of the few names in the Douro region synonymous with the highest quality port wine. The family banner unites venerable houses such as Dow's, Graham's and Warre's – a heritage that comes with a responsibility. But new paths are also being taken, for example in the joint venture with French Bordeaux legend Bruno Prats, who produces a top-class international wine at Quinta da Roriz with his Chryseia.
