2024 Smith Woodhouse Vintage Port Symington Family
After the end of the Second World War, many port producers fell on hard times, including Smith Woodhouse, which had been founded in 1784. From 1956 onwards, the wines were shipped under the Graham’s label. When the Symingtons took over Graham’s in 1970, they also acquired the Smith Woodhouse brand, which they have since developed into a niche producer – one that we find extremely exciting. For a full eight years – since the annus mirabilis of 2016 – Smith Woodhouse had not declared a single vintage port. The superb 2024 vintage marked a turning point: elegant, exceptionally clear and kept cooler thanks to the milder weather. With plenty of floral notes, but above all some alluring, ethereal and herbaceous nuances. Accompanied by a hint of liquorice, very silky. Bottled unfiltered in May 2026.

PORTUGAL
Now in its fifth generation, the British-Portuguese Symington dynasty is one of the few names in the Douro region synonymous with the highest quality port wine. The family banner unites venerable houses such as Dow's, Graham's and Warre's – a heritage that comes with a responsibility. But new paths are also being taken, for example in the joint venture with French Bordeaux legend Bruno Prats, who produces a top-class international wine at Quinta da Roriz with his Chryseia.
