The DOP "Douro" extends along the upper Douro (Alto Douro) from the Spanish border to about 80 km before Oporto and is congruent with the DOP for Port Wines (DOP "Porto"). The area, already demarcated in 1756 - as the first in the world - is considered one of the most impressive wine regions of all and has been part of the UNESCO cultural heritage since 2001.
